Sweating in summer whilst wearing the BionicBack? No need to go without the support.

It’s summer, 30 degrees in the shade, and you’re lifting, bending and carrying all day long. Obviously, you’re sweating. Without an exoskeleton. With an exoskeleton. And with safety boots, work trousers and gloves, of course. That’s perfectly normal when doing physical work in summer – and it’s no argument against the BionicBack.

Sweating doesn’t mean it isn’t working

The BionicBack weighs just around 1.2 kg, sits directly against your back and provides noticeable support whenever you lift, bend down or remain in a forward-leaning position for any length of time. In summer, this means your back has to work less, even when the rest of your body is working up a sweat. The relief is provided passively by the ergonomic support structure, which is made in Germany. You’ll feel the relief, whether it’s 18 or 38 degrees.

Hygiene: The cushion cover is removable and washable

The fabric padding on the BionicBack can be removed and machine-washed. This ensures the system remains hygienic and fresh, even with daily use in summer. Just as you wash your work clothes regularly, the padding should also be part of your regular care routine.

Note: The exact washing instructions (temperature, cycle) can be found in the product leaflet and on the product page – we recommend a 30 °C delicate wash and no tumble drying.

The comparison that everyone is familiar with

Beides gehört dazu. You know how it is: safety shoes are uncomfortable to wear in summer too. Your feet get sweaty, and by the end of the day your socks are soaked through. Yet you still put them on – because the toe cap, puncture resistance and non-slip sole all play their part with every step you take on the building site, in the warehouse or in the workshop.

It’s exactly the same with the BionicBack: it fits snugly against your body, and it gets warm in summer – but you feel the relief in your back every time you lift something. Both are part of the job. Both are part of the deal.

Practical tips for the summer

  • Adjust how you wear it: If you’re working without a jacket, you can wear the BionicBack directly over your T-shirt – a thinner layer means less trapped heat.

  • Replacement pads: If you work multiple shifts, it’s best to use a fresh pad for each shift.

  • Short breaks to let the shoes breathe: Let the lining breathe during breaks and whilst changing – just as you would with safety shoes.

  • Sauberkeit: Polster regelmäßig waschen, Rahmen mit feuchtem Tuch abwischen. Fertig.

  • Why not have a look at our video on hygiene:

conclusion

In summer, you’ll work up a sweat when doing physical work – with or without an exoskeleton. The important thing is that your back is still supported. And that’s what the BionicBack does. Washable, hygienic and suitable for use in any temperature.
